Social Security Disability Insurance

Suffering from a disability is not something we take on by choice. Even on a good day, living with a disability can be mentally, emotionally, and economically draining. If you are one of the nearly 1 in 5 Americans that experiences the hardship of disability daily, you know this struggle all too well. We are here to help.

Working with a disability can be difficult, and at times impossible. If you paid your FICA Social Security taxes while working, and now your disability has rendered you unable to work for a year or more, you may be eligible for Social Security Disability Insurance, regardless of your age. These monthly payments can alleviate a large portion of the economic hardship imposed on Americans with disabilities who are unable to work, and can give them the assistance they need to start living instead of just surviving.

It’s hard dealing with the Government alone. At Uniglicht Legal Group, LLC, we truly care about our clients and are ready to do the work for you, beginning to end.  Call us anytime for a free consultation and find out how our attitude, drive and compassion sets us worlds apart from other law firms.

Supplemental Security Income

Although the Social Security Administration oversees both programs and medical eligibility is determined in the same manner for each, Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) are very different.

Unlike with SSDI where the applicants’ work history plays the main role in determining eligibility and benefits are funded through payroll taxes, SSI benefits are strictly “need based,” funded through general fund taxes, and the applicants’ income and assets are the determining factor. SSI is even available to citizens who have never worked before, as long as they meet certain eligibility requirements. Currently, to be financially eligible for SSI benefits one must be unable to work, have less than $2,000 in assets and a very limited income.

If you, a loved one, or somebody you know suffers from financial hardship brought about by disability or an inability to work, you are not alone. Don’t wait for it to get out of hand and don’t give up. Give us a call anytime, and let’s work together to figure out which route is best for you.
